Its Monday 8th October 2007, exactly 12 months since you left us Malc and I still mourn your passing every day.   Alot has happened in the last 12 months, I've got re-married and I hope you're watching and seeing how happy I am, I took my bike over to France and toured the South with you still wispering in my ear where I should be on the road,   your help and advice over the years we worked together has been invaluble, its made me the person I am today, I hope what you are seeing makes you proud.   I'm so glad that I can carry on with the training that we started out doing with the same ethos that you had.   Love you and miss you always, Dee xx.

I just felt i should leave this post because i still think about Malc everyday. Everytime i see a bike or get on my own bike and go for a ride.Everytime i make a cock up for going too fast i can hear him telling me off :) !!.Malc gave me the chance to do the one thing in my life i always wanted to and for that i will be forever grateful. He was far more to me than an employer. He was there for me when i needed him. For anything..problems with my riding, work and even personal life. He always had some good words of advice.
It saddens me so much you wont be at my wedding, i wish you could see how happy i am.
Malc wherever you are, i want you to know i miss you so very, very much. I promise i will never forget you.

I am so sad about malcolm dying, only met him briefly on doing my cbt with stuart but he was very kind and genuine.   My husband had spoken to him on the telephone at length before booking my cbt and found malcolm to be really pleasant and helpful.   I found this link off spod website hoping to contact malcolm about doing lessons or direct access.   My heart goes out to his family.

Having only just gone on the site to see how things are going I cannot express my shock at reading about Malcolm's passing.
I have never come across an instructor like him, he was and will always be one of the best.
My sincere condolences go to his family I am just honoured to have met such a genuine and fantastic person who will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
May you rest in peace Malcolm and I know that you will be watching over us fellow bikers where ever we maybe.

Malcom taught me a few years ago, and instilled me with all my confidence and was absolutely fantastic to know. I did visit him a few times after i passed for a brew and a chat and he was always happy to see me. I was looking to contact him again with a view to him training my wife, but was very shocked to hear he had passed away. My condolences to his family, he was a really nice person to know and i can say with his encouragement and tuition in bike rding he changed my life completely.

Hi,

I passed with Malcom on the 30th of August 2006 after forgetting my cigarettes on the test day and him lending me half the packet (I never paid you back), and I was and still am deeply shocked at the news of his death, especially as I brought round my new GS500E to the DSA centre to show him the day before he died, I was planning to nag him to take me on a motorway lesson but the place was closed.

Even though I only spent 5 days in his company he did everything he could to make me feel like a friend and welcome into both his business and his life.

The funeral was a lovely service and I was honoured to attend, you could feel the love for him that everyone had, and people were discussing stories and reliving his moments, the way it should be.

I ride the A49 a fair amount, especially now, and I always remember him whilst I do.

Rest in peace friend.

It doesnt seem right that such a good man has been taken. Malc saw me through 4 tests always encouraging me to get back on the bike and eventually with his help i made it. Only his patientce and calmness kept me on track, i couldnt have done it without him. I wouldnt presume to say that I knew Malc but in the short time I spent with him cocking up u turns I could tell that he was a good man. I wont forget him,
Cheers Malc, hope you get to ride on the otherside

I would just like to say on behalf of his family, thank you very much for the kind words you have all written. It has brought a lump to my throat reading them all, knowing that he touched so many lives is a comfort to me. Riding his bike and teaching people to enjoy his passion was his life and I am so glad that he achieved so much for all of you. I will miss him forever........

I was a very nervous learner due to a bad experience.
Malcolm gave me the courage to get back on a bike and try again.
A loss to the world.

Malcolm's advice, guidance and tuition made it possible for me to become a motorcycle instructor. It was a privilege to have known him and it was a very special honour to be a part of the ride out. A very moving and poignant service.

Can we at Warrington Motor Cycle club say how sorry we are at the sad news of the loss of Malcolm. Not a lot of people knew that he was a sponsor of the club and will be missed by all and we will look out for him on the A49.

I think I must have been one of the last people Malcolm taught, passing my test on 27th September. I feel very priveleged to have known Malcolm, even though it was just for a few days. He was a man of unusual honesty and integrity, with a real love for his work, and care for those he trained. He was clearly a gifted teacher who through positive encouragement was able to bring the best out of people. His funeral was a fitting tribute, and it was very special to see how many people's lives were the better for having known Malcolm. My thoughts and prayers are with Christine and the family. At the funeral the vicar spoke of God's love - I pray that each of you will experience this love in the days and weeks to come.

Malc's funeral was a very say day for all concerned but everybody did him proud.   The procession its self flowed smoothly, it was an awesome sight with all the bikes, the Grainger Motorcycle Instructors did a wonderful job escorting Malc to his final resting place, Kristian, his grandson spoke a moving tribute to the congregation regarding his grandad, there wasn't a dry eye in the church, he really did him proud.   I was so grateful to have known this unique man, and being able to take part this last stage was a privilidge, I know Malc will continue to watch over his loved ones, god bless to him,
Darlene xx.

Malcolm had a fantastic send-off today – the bikes made it very special indeed and I feel extremely honoured to have been at his funeral.   I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Malcolm since December 1999, when he first became involved in Manchester Group of RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders.   It was obvious today that Malcolm was blessed in having been surrounded by a loving and caring wife and family and a sincere group of friends.   Everyone who knew him will miss his cheery smile and friendly attitude.   On behalf of Manchester Group I send heart-felt sympathy to Christine and family.

What can I say??   I'm never going to hear you say "der de der de der" again, we are never going to have our endless 'putting the world to rights' chats over a coffee, you're never going to say " what do you call riding like that?" again, you'll never complain about the noise my bike makes when I fire it up (even though you did smile!),we're never going to do any more lads and girls ride outs, I'm going to miss you so damned much, you were always there for me through the good times and the bad, I've not only lost an employer, I've also lost a wonderful, kind, compassionate friend.   The world has lost a brilliant Motorcycle Instructor way too early, my deepest sympathy goes to Christine and I hope you dont mind, Christian, your grandson and I attending your funeral on your beloved Ninja!!   One last ride for you, I'll never forget you, R.I.P, love Darlene, Grainger Motorcycle Instructor 2003 - 2006.

I was deeply shocked to hear of the tragic news of Malcolm's passing.

It was only a couple of months back that i last spoke with him about going on a ride out, I was only thinking of him and was going to call to catch up few days prior to hearing the news.

He got me through the D.A.S course last year and i have him to thank for getting the best out of me without me even realising it, he had a very special way of doing that!

My thoughts are with his family, he will be sadly missed.

Not many people would have given me the chance to become a motorcycle instructor because of my age, but malcolm gave me that chance and he believed i could do it..i am so grateful for everything he did for me including helping with my own riding so much. I will miss malc so much. My thoughts are with all his family

I have worked for Malcolm since he took over Graingers SOM, he was always there when you needed help and advice and always ready to share a funny story. His patience with pupils and instructors was endless, his enthusiasm for anything bike related was limitless. Malcolm is missed by all who knew him and my deepest condolences are offered to his wife Christine and his grandson Christian, who were always in his thoughts.

sincere regards

So sorry to hear about Malcolm's tragic passing.

I couldn't have asked for a better tutor, he was a lovely, friendly guy. Motorcycling wasn't something which came naturally to me, and it's thanks to his patience, understanding, encouragement and his plain determination not letting me give up that I'm a biker today.

His knowledge and experience and will be a great loss to the biking world.   My sympathy and condolences to his friends, family and colleagues. RIP Malcolm.
